[GnoDesk] Week 2 of Mar 2025

Mar 18, 2024

Welcome to the 2nd week of March 2025 at GnoDesk.

Gno Core

  • CommonDAO: A Governance Framework for Gno DApps — The CommonDAO initiative has been launched by the Gno DevX Team. CommonDAO is “intended as a default governance framework for Gno-based dApps”. Drawing inspiration from the Common DAO Spec in the AtomOne Genesis Docs, the goal is to provide a minimal, reusable governance model that any dApps can seamlessly adopt. The v1 will support council management, voting, SubDAO creations, conflict resolution, and membership mutation. Follow the initiative here.

  • Global GNOT Lock Implementation — The global GNOT lock has been successfully implemented, meaning that GNOT tokens may only be used for paying gas fees during the Beta Launch. This implementation aligns with The Road to Mainnet & Beyond, an official blog post from the Gno Core Team covering mainnet plans.

  • r/coins: Simplified Balance Checking r/coins is a new realm under development that provides simple APIs for checking the total supply of native gno.land coins and balances of specific accounts. Follow the progress here.

  • Dark Theme for Gnoweb — Support for dark mode on Gnoweb is in the works. Soon, you’ll be able to switch between themes based on your preference. Follow the development here.

New & Improved gno.land User Registry — The gno.land User Registry is a native naming service infrastructure that “allows users to register custom names linked to their Gno addresses”. This enables dApps to integrate simple names (such as JaeKwon, Manfred, or Gnome) instead of displaying complex addresses (such as g1fnak…), greatly enhancing the user experience. The registry has undergone a major refactor, emphasizing flexibility and upgradeability of the underlying realms.

  • gno.land in ETH Belgrade — DevRels Engineer Leon Hudak visited ETH Belgrade to explain how DAOs are evolving in gno.land. Watch the recording below to discover how GovDAO, CommonDAO, and Gno.meDAO are spearheading scalable and transparent governance models.
